Brazil Sign Cooperation Agreements to Boost Integrity in Sports Betting

On Tuesday, October 29, Brazil’s Ministry of Finance, through its Secretariat for Prizes and Bets, will host a ceremony to sign technical cooperation agreements with leading integrity monitoring organizations. The event, set for 11 a.m. in the main auditorium of the Ministry’s headquarters in Brasília, will be broadcast live on the Ministry's YouTube channel, although attendance is by invitation only.

Partners in Integrity and Transparency

The organizations involved include Genius Sports, the International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA), the Sport Integrity Global Alliance (SIGA and SIGA Latin America), and Sportradar—all of which are internationally recognized for their efforts to maintain transparency and integrity in sports betting.

Strengthening Anti-Fraud Measures

These agreements aim to enhance cooperation in identifying and mitigating irregular activities in sports betting. By fostering real-time information sharing and collaborative oversight, the Ministry seeks to ensure that sports betting in Brazil remains fair and secure, directly benefiting the credibility of the national sports betting market.

The Secretariat’s Role in the Growing Betting Market

Established to regulate Brazil’s rapidly expanding sports betting industry, the Secretariat for Prizes and Bets plays a pivotal role in overseeing integrity, security, and transparency. Its responsibilities include developing regulations that restrict minors from participating, regulating advertising for betting platforms, and ensuring that operators meet their fiscal obligations and maintain a physical presence in Brazil.

In addition, the Secretariat enforces stringent guidelines to prevent match-fixing and money laundering. Since its inception, the agency has focused on creating a responsible betting environment, issuing regulatory decrees and safeguarding bettors’ rights across the country.

The Ministry anticipates that these partnerships with renowned international organizations will significantly bolster Brazil’s ability to prevent fraud and manipulation in sports betting, thereby supporting the continued growth and trustworthiness of the industry.
