Paraguay Starts Investigations Against Two Operators
The Paraguayan Attorney General's Office, in collaboration with the National Gambling Commission (Conajzar), has filed a criminal complaint against shareholders and executives of Amazing S.A. and Montego Trading S.A. for allegedly operating illegal gambling activities. The complaint, submitted to the Public Prosecutor’s Office by Attorney General Marco Aurelio González Maldonado and Conajzar’s head Carlos Liseras Osorio, outlines serious allegations.
Charges Against the Companies
Amazing S.A. is accused of producing falsified documents and potentially other criminal activities.
Montego Trading S.A. faces charges related to clandestine gambling operations, fraud, and other offenses that may emerge from the investigation.
The Attorney General’s Office emphasized its commitment to providing legal support to Conajzar and defending the state's interests. They aim for exemplary punishment to stop these companies from monopolizing the gambling market and allow fair competition.
Details of the Complaint Against Montego Trading
The main focus of the complaint against Montego Trading is to block the company’s website crowncityplay.com.py, which allegedly continues to offer illegal sports betting. Conajzar has requested that the domains, subdomains, IP addresses, and web pages related to the illegal operations be blocked, as the company’s activities harm bettors across Paraguay and infringe upon the rights of licensed gambling operators.
Conajzar underscored the urgency of blocking these domains, noting that Montego Trading's illegal gambling operations violate the constitutional and legal rights of both bettors and legal operators.
